UHC filters are ideal for enhancing deep sky objects by boosting contrast and reducing light pollution, making them a great all-purpose option, especially in suburban skies. Using the UHC filter allows 95% transmission at 486nm (H-beta), 496nm (OIII), 501nm (OIII), and 656nm (H-alpha). This filter is made to Astronomik's exacting standards. While transmission ratings may vary between each filter, you can expect a transmission rating of around 95% for this UHC filter. The specific T-Max will be listed on the filter case. Compatibility!
This filter works best with telescopes at focal ratios between f/4 and f/15. Loss of transmission and color displacement, which can be a problem with other filters on the market, only crop up with Astronomik filters when ultra-fast focal ratios of f/3 or less are in play. Astronomik UHC filters work with 2" aperture instruments and above, but work particularly well with 5" apertures and larger. When measured against other available filters, the Astronomik UHC filter displays more stars along with more nebula characteristics, and due to the high quality of the glass, you will get pinpoint stars! This filter is housed in a 2" round mounted filter cell. You can easily thread it to the eyepiece barrel or any threaded 2" accessory!
