Refund policy

If you are not satisfied with an item purchased, you may return it within 30 days for a refund of the purchase price less a restock charge, and the actual shipping costs both ways.

Items returned in new, unopened condition: We charge a 5% restock fee to cover payment processing and transaction costs. Items not returned in new condition are subject to a higher restocking fee.

Opened Items: Items not returned in new condition will be charged a minimum 15% restock fee. This may be higher if products are returned in poor condition or without original packaging and accessories.

Defective or damaged items may be exchanged for the same item within 30 days. If you need to exchange a damaged or defective item, simply reply to your email order receipt. Please include a description of the issue and if possible a photograph showing the problem.

Telescopes, Mounts, Cameras, Eyepieces, Binoculars

If you have a problem with a telescope, mount, binoculars, or camera purchased from us, please contact us for assistance – we are always happy to help! If the product is defective, we will repair or replace it within 30 days of purchase. Beyond 30 days, you should contact the manufacturer directly for the quickest possible service.

Most unopened telescopes or mounts may be returned in original condition for a refund within 30 days of purchase, subject to a 5% restock fee. Some larger telescopes and mounts are listed as not returnable due to their size and shipping costs, or being shipped from the manufacturer directly. These items cannot be returned or exchanged.

Opened telescopes, mounts, cameras, eyepieces, or binoculars may be returned within 30 days of purchase, but are subject to a restocking fee of at least 15%. 

Unfortunately, we have had issues with customers purchasing and returning telescopes they just want to use for a week or two, so we have had to institute this restocking fee policy. Returns are extremely costly for a small business - items generally cannot be sold as new, and require discounting. We charge restocking fees to help offset these costs and the original transaction fees charged to us by payment providers.

Exchanges for items of a lower value will receive a store credit for the difference. 

With the sole exception of verified defective items, regardless of any other reason for a return, shipping costs will not be refunded.

 

Solar Eclipse Glasses, Filters, and Solar Telescopes

Due to the event driven nature of these products, eclipse and solar products including solar filters, solar telescopes, and eclipse glasses are NOT RETURNABLE.

 

Special Orders, Seasonal, Clearance, Closeout, Drop Shipped, Used Products

Special Order, Seasonal, Clearance, Closeout, or items that are labeled as Drop Ship are not returnable and may not be exchanged. A special order is any order placed for a product we do not normally stock, or that indicates it is a Special Order. This includes many high end telescopes, mounts, and any custom items. If the item is in any way damaged or defective, we will work with the manufacturer to repair or replace the item.

Seasonal items such as Calendars, Annual guides, ornaments, and similar may not be returned.

Used items are not returnable and may not be exchanged.

Mile High Astronomy does not sell on Amazon. Any warranty or support claims are void for products purchased for resale or from unauthorized resellers.
