This is a vintage Japanese-made Tamron SP 90mm f/2.5 lens.  It has a lens hood that is torn, but serviceable.  It is good condition, with relatively clean optics and body, and some dust as befitting its age.  See the photos.

This is just the lens only; no caps, no box, no manual.

The Tamron SP AF 90mm f/2.5 Macro (Models 52B, 52BB, and 52E) is a legendary, high-performance manual focus (and later autofocus) lens originally introduced in 1979. Highly regarded for both macro and portraiture, it delivers near-modern sharpness and gorgeous bokeh, and can be easily adapted to most modern mirrorless cameras.

Key Specifications & Features
  • Magnification: Reaches a 1:2 (0.5×) reproduction ratio on its own. (An optional matching teleconverter allowed it to hit true 1:1 macro).
  • Minimum Focus Distance: 39 cm (about 15.3 inches).
  • Aperture & Blades: 9 aperture blades for smooth, round bokeh.
  • Optical Construction: 8 elements in 6 groups with excellent color rendition and contrast.
  • Mounting System: Built on Tamron's famous Adaptall-2 mount system, meaning the lens base can be swapped out to fit nearly any film or modern mirrorless system (Sony E, Nikon F, Canon EF, etc.) using brand-specific adapters.
Performance & Usability
The Tamron 90mm f/2.5 is frequently lauded as one of the sharpest vintage lenses of its era. Because it doubles as a medium telephoto portrait lens and a macro lens, it is extremely versatile. While it is razor-sharp in the center and corners—even when shot wide open—it does have a few quirks you should know when shooting:
  • Focus Extension: As you focus closer toward macro distances, the lens barrel extends considerably, increasing its total size.
  • Lens Flare: The front element is only slightly recessed, making it highly prone to hazy or blurry flare when bright light hits the glass. Using a Dedicated Lens Hood or a collapsible rubber hood is highly recommended. (INCLUDED!)
  • Adaptall Adapters: If you are buying this lens used, you need to ensure it comes with the correct Adaptall-2 Adapter for your camera body, or purchase one separately.
